The Night Move is no longer singular. The popular weekend express shuttle between some of Metro Detroit’s most vibrant downtowns now has a companion shuttle called The Loop.
The Night Move goes between downtown Royal Oak, Ferndale and Detroit on Fridays and Saturdays. The Loop will focus on moving between hot spots in Detroit’s downtown and Midtown neighborhoods on Friday and Saturday nights.
The Loop will stop at the Town Pump Tavern/Centaur, Bookies Bar and Grill, Greektown, Wayne State, Traffic Jam and Snug and MGM Grand between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m. It costs $5 for an all-night pass.

Career Transition: Chris Ramos (link)
New career: President, The Night Move, a roughly four-month-old weekend bus service that runs between Royal Oak, Ferndale and Detroit that’s geared toward entertainment-seekers.
Why he decided to change careers: “I wanted to do something on my own. I have always been an entrepreneur and had little businesses here and there, just with the change in times it seemed like the right time to get out and move on. Someone once said starting a business in a recession is like taking a vacation in the off-season, but it’s worked out well.”

[Michigan Green Cabs] is also working with other local green groups in an attempt to set up a coalition of businesses that not only benefits the companies involved, but the community as well. For instance, riders of the Night Move, which offers rides from Royal Oak and Ferndale to downtown Detroit, will now receive coupons for discounted rides from the MGC fleet… “Jennifer Harlan from Night Move contacted me right before they started,” states [Ryan] Tobias. “Since we’re both green companies, it works out even better and we have been able to provide a service to their patrons after a night out.”

Chris Ramos decided one day to up and buy a bus. He wanted to use it to move people around, to get people from the suburbs into Detroit, and to help build a sense of community in the metro area. Then he got the idea to run the bus on biodiesel; might as well help save the planet, right?
So he quit his job, bought a bus and hired Jennifer Harlan to be his marketing director. And so the The Night Move was born.

In an economy that was built on the personal automobile, public transportation has been historically absent. Chris Ramos, CEO and founder of the Night Move, LLC thinks his new shuttle business is the solution. “We’re providing a necessary service,” Ramos said. “We’re promoting social and environmental responsibility, while creating a convenience where one has been needed for so long.”
